Chairperson’s Message

03. Rezwanul Mobarak

Dear Friends, Partners, and Fellow Changemakers,

Every enduring institution begins with a single, courageous act of belief — a belief that things can be better, that communities deserve more, and that determined people working together can make it so. The Integrated Rural Development Association (IRDA) was born from exactly that belief. We are a newly established organization, young in years but grounded in purpose, rooted in Nilphamari District and committed to the communities of northern Bangladesh.

We began modestly — as most meaningful things do. Our head office is here in Nilphamari, a district that embodies both the resilience and the unmet potential of rural Bangladesh. It is from this ground that we choose to grow, and it is these communities — their women, their youth, adolescent, their smallholder farmers and daily wage earners — who inspire and guide everything we do.

“We do not merely dream of scale — we dream of depth. Of transformation so rooted in community that it endures long after any project ends.”

Yet we carry a larger vision. IRDA aspires, step by step, to grow into a nationally recognized development organization — one that brings evidence-based programming, institutional excellence, and the highest standards of accountability to every corner of Bangladesh. We are building our systems, our teams, and our partnerships with that national horizon in mind from day one.

And beyond that — yes, we dare to dream further. We look at national NGOs and INGOs working in Bangladesh with aspiration. They too began locally. They too were once new. What set them apart was not resources alone, but vision, values, and an unrelenting commitment to people. IRDA holds those same values at its core, and one day, we intend to stand as a globally recognized development organization — one born in Bangladesh and trusted across the world.

This journey demands more than ambition. It demands integrity in every transaction, transparency in every report, accountability to every community we serve, and compliance with the laws and standards that govern our work.

We are building IRDA with care — investing in good governance, qualified human resources, robust monitoring systems, and partnerships that share our values. We know that trust is earned slowly and lost quickly, and we intend to be an organization that communities, donors, government, and civil society can point to with confidence.

To our team — your dedication in these early days defines who we will become. To our community partners in Nilphamari — your courage and participation give us both direction and energy. To every well-wisher who believes in what we are building — your support means more than you know.

We are at the beginning of something significant. The road ahead is long, but we walk it with clarity of purpose, strength of character, and the unwavering conviction that the communities of Bangladesh deserve nothing less than our very best.

Welcome to IRDA. This is only the beginning.
